Thread: My first project

  1. #1

    Default My first project

I started a world projet from scratch after reading the tutorials available in this forum.

I chose to begin with the tectonic plates, major mountain ranges and oceanic currents.

Before going further, I'd be grateful to anyone giving his opinion/advice.

Colors used are obvious, nevertheless :
The thin blue lines are oceanic ridges.
The thick faded blue lines are oceanic currents.
The thick faded brown lines are mountain ranges.

Your currents don't look quite right. Also you don't seem to denote any plates where your mountain ranges are. Try downloading this, a good read even if you don't use the techniques.

I'm not sure how geographically correct your ocean ridge is, but I like the overall look of the map and the shape of your land...seems like you're off to a good start.

    Thanks for your comment.

This work is not intended to be fully realistic. It's meant to become a realistic-enough basis to a strategy game.

By the way, my apologies if my english is not academic

I get it, and it looks okay, something like this: http://www.semp.us/_images/biots/Biot217PhotoA.jpg. Keep on going.

Here are mountains and ice shelves (not satisfied with the north shelf) :

When you see the oceanic ridge in the world view it looks too uniform. The width and the gentle curvature.

I have to work on that
