Thanks! Seems quite likely that I will have gone blind by that point, though.

Here's a section with roughly finished outlines and some initial color for the rubble laid in. I'll definitely be varying and shading it. This is just to define the areas.

Trying to figure out vegetation...I want the ruins to be nice and overgrown.

Very overgrown. My little tree experiments have told me that I need to do trees first and buildings later...else I'm going to have a lot of erasing to do on two layers. Too painful to contemplate so I'm doing trees now.

edit: Good Bob. Just went and scrolled around in the map. It's so friggin' huge. I can't see how I could possibly finish this in two weeks...but I WANT to. I think it's gonna be fun. I will quite likely deplete my share of nibs.

It's a nice start I'm looking forward to seeing some textures find their ways onto all of these PA maps. I'm sharing your pain on the size though. Whose bright idea was it anyways to make New York so frickin big?

But if it wasn't big we'd have to call it 'The Average-Sized Apple' or something.

Heh. @SG: too true. @moutarde: Nice job on the avatar. I have a teensy bit of texture going in the trees...but not much.

I think this is a two month challenge instead of the usual one... isn't it? That's why we're allowed three entries.

Heh. Just so. I meant to say two months. Had a home-life change recently (new puppy on Saturday) so work is slow on this.

Ah, Battery Park in (or after) the fall...

Still at it, when I get breaks from work and the puppy, but it's slow going.

Eh. Not making much progress on this and I think my time is up. Let's call it dead for now...sorry to disappoint on the challenge. I should have realized this wasn't doable within the time allowed given my other commitments. I *will* finish it someday. It has potential.
