Default [Withdrawn] September-October Challenge: The Ruins of N'yak

Might as well kick this off. Can't say as I really have *time* to engage in another challenge but this is one I can't pass up. So. One of my favorite fantasy/gaming genres is post-apocalyptic. I have a pretty large bookshelf filled with the stuff and just can't seem to get enough. Why not do it to New York City?

Well, here goes. I'm not sure where this is going - campy or artistic. If the lines and colors start looking really nice I might abandon the whole Gamma World thing and take it more real-world. Who knows. We'll see.

I copied the basic view from a NYC tourist map thingie (attached for reference).

After thinking about it myself, I was thinking post-apocalyptic as well, but doing underground and using the current subway system as a base. I dunno if I'll find the time though.

I was actually thinking about a post-apocalypse scenario, too. Would fit well in my PA portfolio.

Holy smokes. This is going to take a really long time. So much for multiple entries.

I've been redrawing with a little finer detail, after up-sizing the map quite a bit. Just looked a little rough for me and I'd eventually like to get some detail in there. This is the tip of Manhattan and a little of Jersey City. I'm just sketching in the ruins and adding a base color for now. Later I plan to drop in quite a bit of vegetation and maybe some "new construction" in certain places. I want to give an impression of what people are doing in the city now if I can...huts, cookfires, etc.

I'll keep sketching but I'm also going to try to detail the island's tip to make sure what I want to do is even feasible in the alloted time.

OMG. This is going to take forever. Was working on this tonight (not enough yet to post an update) and listening to Pandora. Of course they played Cities in Dust (Siouxsi and the Banshees). I laughed a little.

If you finish this and keep the same level of detail, you're my hero. It looks awesome.
