Wip Map of Paranor and surrounding lands

I purchased CC3 several months ago. I haven't had as much time to devout to mapping as I would like with work and my newborn son taking up much of my time but after much experimenting, researching, and practicing I have created this. This map represents my first real attempt at a serious piece of work. Comments, criticisms, and advice are welcome. There are two maps one with effects on and the other without. I played around with the blur effect on the sea contours. Not sure if I'm entirely happy with it.

    HI!

So far it is a nice looking map.

For your water try this trick:

Try applying a transparency effect to the various levels/countours so they show what beneath them.

    Example 1: No effects
    Example 2: Only Blur
Example 3: Countours set to 25% Opacity

Here is what I've slowly managed to add to this map since my first posting. I've been playing around with snow field/tundra effects for the northerly sections of this map which explains the white island at the top. Comments, advice, tips, etc. are welcome.

I'm not sure if it was intentional but you've got a really cool perspecive effect going on there. It looks like the map is on a slanted plane. If you brought in the furthest ocean glow, and compressed the top left bit of the nearer continent it would accentuate it even more. Lovely work!

Most of your rivers seem to split as they flow downstream. In the real world, rivers tend to join up as they flow downstream and only start splitting as sediment carried by the river begins to accumulate at the mouth, forming a delta.

Rob, I didn't even realize what I had done with the rivers until you pointed it out. Thanks for the tip! Now I have to redo the rivers. It won't be the first time this map has undergone a revision of some sort or another. Just glad I caught it now rather then later after everything else has been added.
