    Default September/October Entry: Ruinville

Hehe. Something I just quickly put together tonight. Just wondering, can I contribute with more than one entry? Because this is not very good, and I want to make a map that actually may win to

I've never done a parchmentpaper before! What do you think?

I like that one. It may be simple but it is still cool.

I think the parchment turned out well.

No - only one entry each for the Lite challenge (and normally for the main challenge too). Nice parchment effect!

I'd also note that you haven't really addressed the challenge - you've used the road plan, but not really the house shapes. Also, when you put up and image to be considered for the challenge make sure you precede the image with a ### Latest WIP ### tag.

I did use some of the house-shapes! For the church and some of the houses in the left and under the river, but I didn't use them for the ruins. So. Well. Yeah. I hope that ent cheating.

"...the collection of house shapes to use as a starting point ... ... and you don't need to use all of them. They can be resized and you can add more building shapes to the mix if you feel that these are not enough to populate your town..."

EDIT: Whops.. Apparently it was you I quoted x)

Interestingly enough, It's a map in the purest sense. Imagine you are a traveler in the time and place that this map depicts. you need to remember the details of this area for whatever reason. (maybe so a "cartographer" somewhere can make a detailed map of the area) and you scribble down the important features of the town and its surrounding area. "deep river", "wet marsh" I like it It may not be completely "true" to the challenge but it is neat nonetheless.

I like it pretty much as is; just darken up the grayish lines with something like a dark brown-near black.
