    Default Hothnia - Political Map

Here's an antique-style map that goes with a story I've started writing called "A Dark Night in Borioth". It deals with a barbarian named Tarn of Ushtarna who, exiled from his homeland, finds himself in the city of Borioth, which has lately been troubled by a rash of missing persons and strange shapes that crawl out of the sea in the wee hours... It's a definite tribute to REH, Lovecraft, and David Gemmel, three of my biggest influences as a writer, gamer, and artist.

The map was done in CS2; the font is Roman Antique. I'm not entirely happy with the torn-edge look; I was trying to get the edges to look more ragged, but only succeeded in making them look blurry, so I compromised by leaving the edges sharp and adding a brownish inner glow to simulate wear. What I may do at some point is search for or make a canvas-weave pattern that I can apply around the edges to simulate raggedness.

That looks sweet. Don't think I can rep you yet but I would. Give this torn edge tut a try:

I tried it out for the envelope in my Brushy, Kansas composition and it worked pretty well for me.

Hmm, that might just work; thanks for that!

(And I'd rep you for that, but I can't yet either.)

Interesting map and the inner glow looks just fine for me the way you have applied it.Repped.
