    Default 'Ello!

    Hello everyone, the name's ShadowStalker. I'm brand new here and I must say: I'm quite impressed by the activity and quality of work. I'm new to cartography in general, though I've been drawing since I was little. I just recently delved into Photoshop, though mostly only character/concept art.

    I like hand-drawn maps in fashion with The Lord of the Rings and A Song of Ice and Fire. I think there's something really "cool" about their mix of simplicity and attention to detail.

    Anyways, hello and I hope to learn and contribute as much as possible.

    Heya and welcome to the Guild. I just saw the Song of Ice and Fire maps today for the first time and agree that they're great...though the original LotR map is probably the one that made me fall in love with fantasy maps (of course I already loved real-world maps). If you do some in that style I assure you that we will all praise you heavily!

    Thanks a lot everyone. I'm working on a map right now, but I'm afraid it will not be entirely hand drawn. My handwriting is not neat enough, so I'll probably do everything but the text by hand.

    Have you considered tracing over the lettering on a different layer to give it a more hand-drawn feel? Once you delete the original text layer, it should look fabulous.

    Just my two cents..
