Thread: Question - Map Projections

    Default Question - Map Projections

Is there a tutorial - or does anyone have advice - on how to do map projections, other than Mercator, for a continent or world sized map?

    CHeck out http://www.progonos.com/furuti/MapPr...cartIndex.html for information.

Fractal Terrains from Profantasy will generate nice projections, including grids. http://www.ridgenet.net/~jslayton/CC2Grids/index.html has some very old files done with the 1.0 version of FT.

Wilbur will translate images from Plate Caree (Samson-Flamsteed, square equirectangular, or whatever else you'd like to call it) into various projections. ReprojectImage (also available from me) will translate images from various projections into Plate Caree.

And there are real programs to do that out there, including Flex Projector, Hugin, and some others that can also do this sort of warping.
