Default Vertical battlemap for Kobold Quarterly

Here's one I did recently for Kobold Quarterly - issue #15 out today. You should check it out (pdf here: http://www.koboldquarterly.com/KQSto...roducts_id=100) - especially the cover. Anyway, the map was created for an article about vertical encounters and how to make tem work with a vertical map. I think this one's kind of fun. The encounter requires the players to race a drider to the top of the tower before it breaks down the landing door and kills the king. Great article, and a lot of fun to illustrate:

This is a low res (25%) preview of the actual piece, and as it's a commission piece it's rights reserved.

Yep, all done by hand. Not even any textures in this one. It's got 5 layers - the line art, the base colours, an overlay layer to build up the colour, the grid, and the labels.

I wish I could only use 5 layers. You make me envious.

Yep, actually this was a rarity. My top down maps often have 20+.

Great work. When do you find time, on top of all else you do here and your other projects, to be a physicist? Or do you just bend it?
Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to work I go..
