Thread: Testing my World-Regional mapping style in GIMP.

Default Testing my World-Regional mapping style in GIMP.

Here's a test map I've been working on for a couple of days. I'm rather satisfied with how the Mountains turned out (though they look slightly blurry upon close inspection). I'm experimenting to find a better way of depicting forests, as the one I'm using right now isn't quite up to my standards. Also I'm trying to experiment with texturing the land/water to make it easier on the eye, flat colors with no depth aren't any fun.

    Any thoughts/comments/suggestions are appreciated.

The forests would work great at a smaller scale (like regional or city) but maybe a tad darker - maybe, not sure. Anything else is just minor stuff: the bevel makes the rivers look pretty wide, the desert could use less orange and more light tan. But, as is, I think it's a pretty decent go so far - so nice job.

The mountains appear a bit fuzzy, and can maybe use some foothills. But overall I think it looks pretty good.
