December 2010 Entry- Maargard

I like that new version much better, Sap. You can still see the detail in the drawings, but making them smaller like that cleans them up and yeah, doesn't draw too much attention away from the map itself. And that harbor castle drawing is stunning, but it needs banners and flags from the roofs!!!

I like the plain version, shrug. If you really want those corners filled then maybe you could just detail 4 important areas in either regional or city scale. If you want to go all out then fill all of that empty space with stuff like cherubs, horses, boats, monsters, etc. like those highly decorated maps. But that takes more time than making the map.

That's the road I'm on, and you're right. It's a killer.

Plus, I'm gonna get my ass kicked in this contest by, well, just about everyone, so it's probably all for naught.

I'm now restructuring the map again. I will make some inlay maps plus the illustrations plus the astronomical charts/drawings plus coat of arms - I guess I have to clone myself to do this in time!

That's why I avoid these kinds of maps - way too much work, way too little time. Hope you can do it.

It is work-intensiv, yes. But I hope the result justifies the effort.
