I've always been frustrated with my city battle maps. They always turn out to be boxes for buildings and straight roads. Kinda boring and not at all like the actual medieval cities that I've visited here in Europe, where the roads and buildings are built around the land and have natural bends and curves in them. So I started thinking what if a battle map was more like a game board like snakes and ladders, (too far obviously) but the idea has been swimming in my head for the last few weeks.

So, after mucking around with that idea I ended up with a organic(ish) battle map with a non-aligned square grid. To make the city feel less like a grid I stuck it in a Hex shape (here is an example I made yesterday):

I expect that area of effect and line of sight rules might cause some confusion, but the potential is interesting.
