    Default funky photoshop effects

I found an online tutorial about a quick way of making curtains in PS. Basically use the default Graduated fill tool, set it to 'linear' and 'difference', and draw short horizontal lines across the canvas. You can get some really funky effects with this using the radial option and then then vivid light .... just playing with all the settings, but start with the setting on 'difference'. I couldn't make anything 'mappy' out of it though (the third image almost looks like some sort of damasked material), although someone may have more luck!

I forget who, but a relatively new guy (the past 8 months or so) uses a method similar to those middle ones in creating his terrain. Has a tut as well. Whereas I use about 20 difference clouds he uses the radial gradient set to difference.

With some playing around, two and three can be combined to make a decent height map for mountains. I took image two and applied a displacement with 3 as source(and a bit of blur) and it made a fairly decent height map for mountains...
