    Wip Tomb of the King

I wanted to take a break from my shadowfell map, but still wanted to create something. I diden't want to try and remake another published map, so I started searching for idea's when I stumbled upon egypian tombs. I found one that I liked and this map is losely based on it. The layout is almost as the real tomb, but the interior is something I make up as I go along...

The tomb this map is based on is The Tomb Of Tausert And Setnakht

I have gotten pretty far, but I still want to add alot of things, before I can consider this one done.
The colors are brownish and dark and I do find them fitting for this map, even if they arent my favorit colors.
The map is done on a 50 pixel grid, so the map has ended up pretty large..

Anyway, just wanted to show it now

Very Nice. The webbing looks great. Are they objects, brush or hand painted?

    Thanks.
The webbing is a brush.. for now..
Because now that you mentioned it, I have tried doing some by hand. And once I found the right settings it was actually pretty easy to do nice looking webs.

    Wip hand painted web

I have experimented with hand drawn spider web. And I found out it is really easy to do.. Some white lines and some added blur and you got yourself some webbing

So I went back and redid all the webs with my own hand painted ones. I think they turned out OK. I still find it amazing what you can do, when you set your mind to it. And Greywolf's question made me realise that maybe I should try to do my own and it turned out it really wasnt that hard

Those look pretty good. I think the ones with the web pattern pull it off the best.

I see you are a filterforge user, a friend of mine does some filters over there. Totte's filters Early on he had taken a few of my objects and rebuilt them in filter forge. It was definitely cool to see his interpretations. One of these days I will dig into it. I see the value but I have yet to figure it into my workflow.

I love the way this map twists/bends slightly because it really strengthens the feeling that time and the land have taken their toll on the place. Also the brown palette is nice.

I agree with Larb. Looks great!

I'd tone down the blue of the pool, though.

I really like this map! It's a perfect centerpiece for a tomb coming up in my Dark Sun campaign

Thanks for the replies Good to hear that people like it. And about the pool.. You might be right that I should tone the blue down alittle. Just hard to get it too look like water without the blue But I will try.

I have updated the map some..
Added some objects and cracks and other things.
I might remove the cracks in later versions.. But for now they are in.. I do think they are alittle much, but I want something like it in.
