    The more colorful version is better but the light colors get even brighter. I have the same problem all the time when putting a parchment on top and changing the blend mode. You have to go and manually edit the parchment layer to darken up the light spots so that they don't come out too bright. DJ does it the other way around and puts his parchment at the bottom and that's probably an easier method since you can tweak your hand-coloring easier than tweaking a parchment.

    Thanks everyone for the kind words. It encourages me to continue working in this direction.

    @Ascension - My parchment layer is on the bottom however I have so many layers it's hard to know which one to modify in order to chill the brighter areas. Instead I just added in a new shadows layer and hand darkened the really bright spots. Let's see if this is a little better.
