Wip Dark Heresy: The Planet Loss - WIP

    Hola folks.

This is my first foray into making maps with Campaign Cartographer. I would like to say the tutorials for CC3 did give me a much needed jump start on understanding how these programs work. To tell you a little background of the evolution of these maps, I run a small Dark Heresy campaign for about six players. My first project was to build templates for the hive they were adventuring in, but true to all gamers everywhere, your players take you places you are not prepared to go! Hence they have left the planet I was detailing and have ended up on a 'blank palette'

So armed with Creativity and desperation, here is my first steps into making a world -

I started with the overall continent I would have liked to make this in the view of two circles like this, but I can't figure out how to do that with CC3:

The map of Scintilla is the work of folks at the Ordo Mallus website (least that is where I found it, so kudos to you all)

This is the Planet I am working with.

And with the Acolytes *the players* landing on the continent of Forlorn, I have made the first city they will encounter - Falmouth.

With its detailed buildings - so far.

If anyone has any comments or suggestions, I am all ears - this is my first serious attempt at using this program. I know I still have a long way to go.

Hmm. I don't have the program installed at the moment, but I think you could draw two circles using the regular circle tool, merge them together with whatever tool in CC3 does that, and then draw the map on top of those two circles, cutting everything off at the edges (I know there's a tool for that, too, I just can't remember the names)

    Thanks Eathanu.

In my wanderings yesterday, I found something called the 'annual' from Campaign cartographer and I see what I need in the 2007 version. Hopefully it wont be too complicated.

Looks like you're doing a good job of getting a handle on the program. I've used it a bit, but certainly wouldn't say I'm familiar with it. Sounds like you've dived into the annual styles, which is a great place to find some excellent map styles to work with. I look forward to seeing what you achieve with the 2007 style.

On your buildings, they're looking good. I'd suggest perhaps going for a nicer font for the numbering - that one's a bit harsh. Also, I don't quite understand the light grey outer glow on the walls. I'd suggest swapping that for a shadow and allow the grass to show through.

Otherwise, good start - and some great looking maps for your players!
