Default CCIII and GIMP? - symbols

Not sure but I heard that some people create the really nice CCIII symbols with GIMP. I don't even have an idea what I should search for, sorry for that.

Anyone have the time to give me a run down on what it entails? I've always made my symbols from scratch and the freehand draw.
    What format are the files?

As long as the symbols are saved in PNG or BMP Format, they can be used in CC3.

Wicked awesome is all I can say, can't wait to make some more PNG's and enhance my map tenfold. Lot easier than snooping through all the folders for factory symbols.
I wish there was a import manager to find all files, but oh well.

I'll make an entire new folder of png's to use.

Thanks again for the help, much appreciated.

And once you collect all those PNGs in a folder, you can make a symbol catalog of the simple easy.
