Default April/May 2011 Lite Challenge Entry - Backyard Bunker

A man's home is his castle; but a man's Bunker is his Bastion!

This is my first attempt at entering a contest of any kind here. Hopefully I do it right. Recently I found and bought a kool little program called "shuffler" from a website called papermakit. Its basically allows you to lay down pre-drawn tiles to create maps for RPGs. Right now it is only configured for modern/SciFi stuff. And the program has some bugs and almost no documentation. But having said that, its still been fun to fool around with.

I always wanted to build a bomb-proof shelter in my backyard. Its obvious that Armageddon is coming. So I started working on it last night. First I needed to excavate the hole and build up the walls.

Then I had to lay down the floor tiles. I needed to also add additional levels. The lower levels (there will be two, I think) will house the electrical generators and the fuel and water cisterns.

That seemed to work out OK> Now to add in the details.

Doh! Some kinda bug in the shuffler software isnt allowing me to save. Odd; I could do it with the first two images. Maybe it has something to do with the amount of detail added.

I had to take a screen shot in order to save it. Most annoying. But it did give me the excuse to port the map out into Photoshop and add in a few more details (it doesnt appear that Shuffler will let you add in images from outside the program...at least I havent been able to figure out how).

Its almost complete now. I don't know if I will bother building the lower levels.

Its taken lots of effort, but finally I feel Safe & Secure! Now I can relax, read the paper, check my email on the laptop, eat freeze-dried food from my abundant supply, and not have to worry about The Bomb. And do you know why I dont worry? Because I have one of my own! I have stashed my own Nuclear Detterent in the corner with the rest of my weapons cache, and if anyone gets too close, Bam!

Hey, waddoya mean, that kind of defeats the purpose of a bomb shelter?
