Default *** April/May 2011 Lite Challenge Voting *** - My Home is My Castle

So this month the challenge was to map a fortification of some form - anything from a walled cave to an alien bastion spaceship. And once again the cartographers did not disappoint! Since the thumbnailer hasn't been working too well lately here's a list of the entries. Make sure to click through to the full size entries.

Some really great entries this month. I went for:

    Church of Odin by Troedel
I just loved this entry. It brought into play 3d modelling, a really cool concept and something which was fantasy, but with a twist and a sense of humour. The church of ultimate destruction! Loved it.

    Fort Bastion by geamon
Really nice textures and self contained with a story. I love the way the textures were rich but tiled (but I still don't know which floor the chapel is..probably my misreading of the map).

Lagrangian Fort by Ares96. I love schematics and this was a really good one,

Nearly there for me: Frostheim by osloging: Simple, brutal, cool. Nice colours. The Stella Arcis (The Star Fortress) by jtougas...great star design but again, it felt a little incomplete.

::edit:: eek! Diamond! Sorry...I didn't click on your thumbnail...talk about wonderful detail that doesn't show in the thumb....(sorry...you would have been my third choice if I had looked at the entry properly

    Wonderful entries everyone! Rep coming!

This is a hard one for me.. But I went with:
April/May Lite Challenge Entry: The Stella Arcis (The Star Fortress) by jtougas
Really loved the closeness of it
April/May Lite Challenge Entry - The Fortress of Saint Martin by Diamond
I just plainly loved the style! A very good job by Diamond.
April/May Lite Challenge Entry - Church of Odin by Troedel
    Very nice!
And I would of voted for April/May Lite Challenge Entry - Lagrangian Fort by Ares96 as it was very nice and layed out.. But, im afraid that the Church of Odin changed my mind.
The palace of Lareth was close also. Except that it was unfinished.

Doh! I accidentally hit return after only voting for one map (The Fortress of St. Martin). Sorry for messing up.

Another great challenge and another tough choice (well 3 choices). My first vote went to Geamon that map is just great. Your best work to date IMO. My second vote went to Troedel for his Church Of Odin. It's a great concept and great execution and I love the inclusion of 3d modelling. My third vote went to Ares96. It was clean and crisp and very cool. As usual rep to everyone that entered and congrats to the new people. Challenges are fun and learning new skills and techniques makes them a win-win.

Yeah, but it was still awesome. You got one of my three votes, anyway.

My votes went for the Fortress of Saint Martin because of the neat lines and the wealth of information. The Star Fort is a great idea well executed. Fort Bastion tells a great story and is textured very good. Only thing here is I always got the feeling of peering through some kind of fog.

Diamond - That looks like it could have come out of a history book, very well done. I love the look.
Gaemon - This is Super! It seems to me like you have really improved lately but maybe I haven't been paying close enough attention. I can totally use this if I had a campaign I could fit it into. Great textures.
Troedel - Nice 3d map going on here. Excellent job.

To all the rest, you guys did great and once again made a great challenge out of this but in the end we can only pick three. If you don't know, it often comes down to some silly thing like a smudge here or there that just catches the eye, so don't feel bad. Keep up the great work and we look forward to seeing you again next month.
