Ramah, super inspirational as usual. You balance softness and crispness so exquisitely well. The map just welcomes you in, and keeps on revealing more and more as you go in deeper. The world feels vibrantly alive, and that is no small feat to accomplish in a map

How do you create/capture the seamless transition from the crisp mountains to smooth hills and forests? Is it all hand-drawn?

    It is definitely a masterwork!

    Thanks, Keith.
This map is all hand-drawn so I cannot really answer your question - I just place things where they feel right or where the client requests them. I do try to bring the hills and mountains together through some low opacity shading that helps to bring them into a unified whole rather than just a series of single hills dotted around. I also mask off the green below the mountains and to a lesser extent the hills to bring through the parchment colour and thus hopefully connect them with the palette.
Royal: I'm very sorry for your loss, your mother was a terribly attractive woman.
