    Wip Map of Gheldor

After fawning over Ramah's Aronbor and Perdon maps for several months, I have decided to give this parchment style a try and use it in the creation of the map for one of my RPG settings, called Gheldor (continent of Argaron).

To this end, I have used quite a few resources that were posted here, namely TreeThing, Ramah's hand drawn elements, and vhalior27's mountain brushes from Ramah.

Also used photoshop's Lunar Cell plugin, to create the overland map mask.

The work is still in progress (as the name of this forum implies), and I'd gladly appreciate any input.

Sweet. I like the shape of the landmasses.
Just one thing: The shores are way to "bumpy". This is something that many cartographers do (I used to do it as well, sometimes I still do when I forget myself)
Don't get me wrong, I still love the map. But if you take a look at a world map of Earth, then you'll notice how seemingly straight and not-bumpy the shorelines are.

Now to the names. I like them, they all seem to have a similar pattern, like they all originated from the same language, and that's nice. Well done.
The colours are great. the font as well. Very nice.

Nice map D1060. The names match with the map.
Well colors are pretty good, I like this green tone like in the Ramah maps.

The only thing I think its strange is the "white point" (i guess it would be a hole on the map, right?).

You have a cool leathery texture going on there. I like it =) Ocean color is a bit too dark for my taste, but excellent work none the less.

Beautiful work D1060, I love how it seems like a real, well used object. Are you planning on giving the whole thing a background, like a wooden table perhaps? With the bright white shining through the tears it kind of looks like it's sitting on a lightbox.

    Wip Argaron - Round 2

Thanks for the input everyone. Here is the map on round 2.

On this version I have lightened up the sea texture to allow for labels on sea levels to be more easily read. Also added some glow into these labels.

Added some sea map elements such as the compass rose and the map scale. I also added some nautical lines. They are those lines we see on sea area on very old maps. I'm not sure what they do, or what they're for (if anyone knows, please tell me), but they add to the "old" look.

I also tried placing the map over a wooden texture, to make it look that its sitting on a table or something.
