Wip Kingdom of Calam (and surroundings)

For the Calam Larp I'm running (www.calam.eu) I finally created a decent map
I used the Hand-Drawn Map Tutorial (for the Artistically Challenged) by Gidde.
And I also used the "Hand-drawn map elements" by Ramah

I'm not 100% happy with the roads and the borders. I'll also need to add a label over the big forest on the left and a better compass and some scale-measurements.
But for a first try I do like it.

Oh yeah, I made it using the Gimp.

After seeing this map: http://www.cartographersguild.com/sh...that-Other-Guy by Ascension I though I could do better on mine and will be re-arranging the mountains to make them more 'full'. I'll also add a better overflow from the mountains to the forest.

Tips are always welcome as this is my first attempt at a decent map.

Since viewing the The Butcher, The Baker, and that Other Guy map by Ascension I'm thinking of going back to my map and doing some changes.
First thing I'll try is to rework the mountains to they look more 'full'.

Way better than my own first tries, good work!
Maybe try to vary the size of the mountains so they do not rise from the plain so abruptly, but go from hills to smooth mountains to high and rocky mountains. It kind of looks like you used only one or two brushes right now.
What is happening with the rivers which meet between the mountains? Aren't they flowing into the sea? The coastline is not bad, but maybe you can try to add some larger bays and spits (?) to make it look more interesting
I like the windrose and the coloring of the landmass, by the way
