    Default FT3 at GenCon

According to http://www.profantasy.com/rpgmaps/?p=801 ProFantasy will be releasing FT3 at GenCon this year. It has some interesting features, including some that aren't readily apparent (hint: holding down Shift while activating a feature may lead to new and interesting behaviors).

The big feature is direct CC3 compatibility, with sheets in the output from FT.

It also has a new shader that colors the landscape based on image swatches applied to climate types.

For you Google Earth afficionados, basic KMZ output is also an option.
(there would be an example KMZ file here, but the forum doesn't like that file type)

So is 16-bit PNG heightfields for those times when you need a little better precision for your bump maps.

Overall, it's a pretty reasonable upgrade from the last release, I'd say.

I'll be getting this one! Be nice to see a full list of features though! Not being a CC3 user, export to CC3 doesn't hold a lot of interest for me but the 16 bit heightfields will put this on my must buy list!

    Thanks Joe!

I look forward to hearing more. Are there any details (other than the CC3 stuff) that you can share - particularly about the terrain generation aspects, high-res file output, etc. that you can share?

We are already in mid-September! Can’t wait for the release!!! I hope that we are able to load the archives from FT Pro to it. I dont want to redo everything that I am doing right now.

Is the GenCon you mentioned the one next August - as in 2012?

A few last-minute bugs turned up that delayed the release to manufacturing, as I understand it.

Ah....well, better to fix them first and prevent angry users from raging about a faulty product!

Any idea when we'll be able to get a list of updated/new features and improvements?
