    Wip First continent map

Hi folks! This is my first computer-drawn map (ok, second, but the first was back in the far, far mists of time when Paintbrush was actually a viable option). I found the tutorials and material here extremely helpful in achieving what I was trying to do with it, so I thought I would share what I've got and say thank you -- especially to Jezelf and Ascension; those tutorials were really useful.

So this is what I've got so far --

-- I'm not too happy with the colors yet and I've been playing with the gradient. Here's an example of the land colors shifted; figure I'll sort the water when I've settled on what I like for the land.

Looks very good so far. I have 2 questions: what program are you using? And what th scale of the map?

I started off in PSP X and moved to GIMP - I liked PSP's difference clouds a lot better; GIMP's felt too large and undetailed. But everything after getting the basic black-and-white outline of coasts and rivers was done in GIMP. Scale -- d'you mean graphics-wise or land-wise? I'm working VERY large: the full piece is about 12000 pixels wide. Land-wise, this continent is roughly the size of Europe. If you mirrored and rotated Europe to match the major alignment here, and put Spain's western coast along the southern coast, the northern coast would run roughly through Moscow.

Song, Gimp has a plugin named felimage that produces MUCH better clouds(and with a lot more control) than the stock on. You should check it out if you on Windows OR don't mind compiling your own on linux or Mac.
