Second attempt to a world map

Hi to all.

Someone might remember me because of an old map I started and never finished (cannot found the thread). These weeks I finished writing some short novels, in a fantasy world setting. It is all about seas, oceans and overall it's just like the movie Waterworld (a lot of water ).

Anyway, I started yesterday to make this map. I made non visible the text layer, just because a lot of names are in my language. A friend of mine said it is nice and clean, a simple style and it isn't too much complicated. I just want more critiques and opinions: what do you think?

Obviously it's not finished yet. I want to know what do you think about the terrain style and the symbols placing.

As everytime I'm sorry for my poor english. Here's the map.

yep, it is very clean.

I think that the symbols could do with a bit more variety; maybe put a few different mountain symbols.

Do you think I should use more variety of symbols?

Thanks for the tip :p Basically I need simple brushes: mountains, hills and trees. I start to search some good ones.

Before doing the map in symbols, I tried some experiments with some good filters in Photoshop. Here is what I got.
