Isometric view of stick men are still just stick men, so I will probably try something out here.

Of course it will be underground related, which means instant loss.. lol but this will be my first attempt at such a thing so could be fun and a learning experience

Bah. I already did a side-view map for a challenge. And now you want me to repeat myself?! A great artiste never repeats old work!

Well, that and I'm spending my mapping energies on a specific map at this point in time. I look forward to voting on the entries though. Good luck all!

Assuming I stick with fantasy cartography, I'd like to become a World Builder, laying out not only a realistic topography, but also the geopolitical boundaries and at least rough descriptions of the countries and societies.

Some examples of maps in this line that I've done, in case these help to spark some ideas (and to show that there's a commercial market for this style of mapping ):

Hey, side-view / cross-section was my first map mode. I must've been about eleven; I'd take sheets of blank paper over to a friend's house and we would draw vast military maneuvers - typically cave-riddled hills full of stick soldiers and tanks, across intervening valleys. Clue to how much of a pencil-geek I was - my grandfather worked at a paper company, and one of my brother and my best toys was a package of large paper :-).

It may not be High Art, but I shall attempt SoMeThInG by mid October.

    < now where's that pack of A3 paper.... >

Funny. My grandfather owned a print shop. I guzzled loads of paper and cardboard...and pencils and glue.

    Looking forward to the entries!

some of us had to make due with A4 ... at least until I began my carreer in advertising/printing - THEN came the big pieces of paper - and my first work on canvas (unrelated) ... today however, I find it hard to find room for those huge packages (width wise) - gotta build that top floor some day

I got it done on time anyway sometimes a hidden deadline stops you fiddling with details that might be less relevant than you expect!
