Thread: Map time!

    Default Map time!

    Hello mappy people,

I'm Mossmess, and I'm searching for a hobby. After some aimless wandering around the internet I followed a link from Jon Roberts' website to your guild...

And I'm totally inspired! You guys are so talented, and not to mention supportive. It's a great community you have here and I'm looking forward to being a part of it.

I studied graphic design at uni, so I'm hoping I have the software and arty skills to do some passable work. What I don't have is any knowledge about geography, but I guess I'll pick it up as I go along. (If you happen to know of any 'geography for noobs' websites or posts, let me know ).

    See you around!

http://www.sfwa.org/2009/08/fantasy-...ing-questions/ is a wonderful resource on world building as a whole. you may only be concerned with geography right now, but city and border placement have to be thought out in order to make sense.
This cavern is below all, and is the foe of all. It is hatred, without exception. This cavern knows no philosophers; its dagger has never cut a pen. Its blackness has no connection with the sublime blackness of the inkstand. Never have the fingers of night which contract beneath this stifling ceiling, turned the leaves of a book nor unfolded a newspaper.

welcome to the guild. Personally I just wing it when it comes to geography - my players don't notice anyway
