    Default Highland riverside encounter

    Hi,

It's been a while (over a year) since I have been doing any mapping and oh boy it feels good...

This will be an encounter map in a world we are currently roleplaying. It is located in highlands where two rivers are running down the rocky hillside. My plan is to have a bandit settlement in there and players will be facing an overwhelming enemy, so a direct approach is not an option.
Here is a small sample I have been done so far. Basically I have been creating the height map and new textures... As usual, comments and critique is most welcome...

Wow, I really like the water in this! How did you do that?

The water consists from the base water texture which is a bit more than just a blue layer. On top of it I have the waves layer which was the hardest part to create and then yet another layer for hand drawn elements like currents etc. The waves were create by experimenting several photoshop finters and effects to get only the white and light blue lines (to be honest I sent several hours creating the effect and eventually it just clicked after many tries).
Below the actual river layer I have the ground layer with layer masks as I wanted to have an effect of seeing through the water.

    Hey, Pasis. Welcome back.

That water effect you have their really does look very nice. Looking forward to watching this progress.

Nice to see you back, and with a very nice beginning for your map.

Here is a new update. So far I have been in safe teritory, but now I need to get the settlement there and I'm not sure how I will do it. Only thing I know is that I want it in between the rivers.
