Chapitre 1 : Neogei
(or improve your French as i tell you my life)



J’ai créé ce monde pour un JdR nommé Raiders, joué entre 1996 et 2006 par plus d’une trentaine de personnes. Je n’ai jamais vraiment su comment le nommer alors il a conservé son nom « temporaire » de Néogée pendant longtemps, et le gardera certainement jusqu’au bout.

I made up this world for a tabletop RPG called Raiders, between 1996 and 2006, with up to 30 players. I never really bothered to name it, so it kept it’s previous name of Neogei (read : Neo-Gaia).



Le premier croquis à la main (et en couleurs) remonte à 1996. J’avais 18 ans, Internet n’existait pas, et j’écoutais en boucle les Red Hot Chili Peppers en jouant à Chaos Strikes Back sur Atari ST. Certains d’entre vous ne comprendront probablement pas de quoi je parle.

Je l’ai dessinée de façon à ce qu’elle boucle sur elle-même d’est en ouest, comme une mappemonde classique. Elle contenait déjà les grands espaces principaux rencontrés dans le jeu : un continent unique, de grands espaces inexplorés, plusieurs archipels, et une grande île australe.

The first draft rewind me back to 1996. I had long hair, no beard, the Internet didn’t exist and I played Chaos Strikes Back on Atari ST while listening to the Red Hots. And I figure some of you won’t understand there could have been a time without the Internet.

I draw that map so it loop back on itself from east to west, like an actual map of the world. It had all the elements encoutered in-game : a massive continent, vast unknown lands, many archipelagos and a great austral island.
