Post First City Map - Fanghorn View

Well, the idea found it's source in the welcome thread where I posted the first map ever I draw for an adventure.
The adventure is "The Mask of Marruk" from Monkeygod Enterprises.
There is a map of the city Fanghorn View in the book, drawn with Campaign Cartographer 2.
I thought I could make it better because the city looked a little sterile and draw it with Microstation, a CAD-program (Like AutoCAD)
The city looked better, but it is lacking texture.
After doing the GIMP tutorial from ROBA here I thought I could improve my GIMP abilities by using it for adding texture to my city.
I will post here for showing you the progress.

    Here how I started:

    Welcome the the guild!

    That said, about your map.

The textures will add alot more, as you can probably see from what you've done so far. the bumpy ground makes it seem a little more organic, so its easier on the eyes.

A did see a flaw thus far, that you might want to fix before going any further. The moat around your castle should probably blen into the river, rather then being set under it.. the cut off between the two is a little bit jarring.

None the less, it looks like the conversion is going good thus far, and take it from me, I'm still new at this whole business and it takes bloody hours and hours to make something even semi complete, ecspecialy when your teaching yourself as your doing it!

Can't wait to see the next phase, and good luck!

The pen is truly mightier then the sword, for with one quick stroke, a pen can kill your drawing; but the sword takes a couple hits before you drop it into negitive HP.

Thank you for the comment, I tried on the river today but I didn't had as much time as I expected so I have to try it sometime later. I'm also thinking of wood surrounding the river and I'm working on a Sign in the upper left.
