Wip The makings of the beginning

Well this is my very first map made and I figured since it is thanks to cartography guild that I was able to create this map that I should at least contribute it to the community. It is not completely finished and a bit rush at certain points so I need to do some touch ups. Especially for the rivers but all in all a good start.

I like the subtle colors you have going. I agree that the rivers need some more work...why the fade as you head up river? was that part of the tut?

Like you said .... "a good start"

I would suggest using a scan of some old paper for the texture, if you can get your hands on it. It'll look smoother than a cloud render layer ... otherwise, nice start.

I rather like the texture. The first thing I thought of was "a map painted on a piece of close-grained wood rather than antique parchment." Not sure if that's what you were going for, but that was my first impression. I also second the lovely subtle colors.
