Post Hand-drawn Map of Tolkien's Wilderland

I've been working on a map of Tolkien's Wilderland over the past few days, and I thought I would share a few pictures. This is the map from The Hobbit. Since I don't have Photoshop or anything, it's all hand-drawn using Micron pens on 9x12" Bristol paper. It's long work, but I think the end result is worth it. Doing the mountains especially was a learning experience. I don't have any pictures of the complete map yet, just the few bits and pieces below(taken with my iPhone).

pretty amazing illustration! Whenever i try to draft another piece it always seems to go belly up just around about the time i decide to put in an extra killer robot or two - well done with the patience!

Thanks! The whole map took me between 6-8 hours to complete, with Mirkwood and the Misty Mountains taking the longest, for obvious reasons. I want to try a few more maps, maybe pre-existing ones, and then try my hand at doing some of my own maps.

This looks lovely, but I can't see a larger version of the maps!

Really great pictures. But I'd love to see the whole map!

Added some pictures - one of the whole map, and then a few more of various sections. Hopefully it's enough to see details. Had to take them on the mantel place with my wife's DSLR, and tried my best to post them full-size. Also fudged the colors a bit - its done on white Bristol paper, so any discoloring is due to the room light and my own fudging. Tried to get it as close to white as possible. Thanks for the kind words everyone!

Great work! Hand drawn can take a while, but always worth it.
