Default Feb/March 2012 Lite Challenge Entry - Nethermountains

Starting up engines... I imagine a world having a sun radiating coldness, something evil. In the equatorial regions ice is covering the land and fearsome beasts haunt the lands. I hope to enter this feeling into my map, it´s much to clean and shiny right now but this is hopefully just the start.

Very cool, a globe set in a polished wood and brass frame

Added some clouds and city names to get the feeling. It´s breathing coldness down that slopes

So here is a little update, added some ice and a lable. The text isn´t cast in stone, I´ve got to think about the names and places.
The globe is done in Fractal Terrains with some help from Terraformer. That program is a lesson in unpredictability, half the time I wander through darkness and feel my way. There should be more examples to give a feel of value range before you try it out yourself. But once you get results I like them

As I looked at the newest map with the band of Ice circling the equator I realized that the northern half of the world would never have contact with the southern half unless they traveled by means of magic like teleport. Cool!
