    Post Cartographer #21

Hello, I started playing Axis&Allies miniatures recently, and am most interested in the maps.
So I am here to see that there is and may be post some of my finished maps.
I don't need any fancy software, MS paint will do because I printscreen the PDF at the wizards site
and cut and paste any part of the map element I want to use. I also intend to create some
texture templates using printscreens from Google Earth!

This is an 8x11 cut and paste test image. not finished.

SORRY, I updated the image and a bit later updated the link. and then figured out how to display it.
So. I wish I was better along to post something finished, but I'm working more on game play map arrangements
of existing maps at the moment. Here is an example of arranged wizard.com maps that I pasted together. they are scaled for show not play:

    Charlie-1, Baker-4,
    Dog-1, Able-3,
    Charlie-2, Baker-2,
    Baker-1, Dog-2
    http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=ah/aam/maps

This is the HOW set 1-2-3-4, arranged as they were made to fit (from wizard.com):

This is the Pegasus set 1-2-3-4, arranged as they were made to fit (I pasted together):

I SHOULD MENTION, to spare anyone the frustration, Wizard started printing the maps at 50.5 millimeter hex widths,
The PDF images are sometimes 49mm, 50mm, 52.5mm depending on the margins and 100% zoom at printing, and later on they
increased the sized of the miniatures and the new hexes are 75.5 millimeters.

That looks great Gabe! Have some rep.
It's one of the better Axis & Allies minis maps I have seen.

Axis & Allies... now that brings back memories

Not familiar with the minigames, but these maps make it look intriguing.

My memories of axis&allies tend to revolve around the huge arguments and near fistfights that would break out between 2 particular individuals who couldn't seem to figure out they shouldn't play against each other if they wanted to be friends, lol

Never played A&A. These look a lot like Squad Leader

I recently read somewhere that the "cardboard and paper" wargames were made obsolete by computer wargames, and computer wargames are now passé. Hmm, too bad. I guess board wargaming has always been a cottage industry. Reminds me, I need to unload a few old games on eBay. Ah, the good old days -- you can't go home again -- *sniffle.*

Post AXIS AND ALLIES, is a board game and a miniatures game.

Lest anyone mix up the board game with the miniatures game:

This is a merger of the 4 Edition ('04) board game pieces with the 6th Edition ('09), and it yields:

    • 12x Transports
    • 4x Cruisers
    • 8x Battleships
    • 12x Destroyers
    • 14x Submarines
    • 7x Carriers with
    • 14x Fighters

    Can you say "Armada."
