    Post Map an Altitude Range

I would like to generate maps of only certain altitudes such as all areas in Colorado between 5000 and 6000 feet, etc.
I thought there would be an online program with this capability but have not been able to find one.
Any suggestions regarding a website or software (hopefully not too expensive) with this capability?

    Thanks.

    Have a look at Qgis

but if you have the height data then Gimp 2.9.3 or Krita ( both free GPL ) can handle 16 bit data
and use that height data to select the area on the map

the whole USA is available from the USGS for free

    Yup - basically that.

Get a height map of the US or Colerado and it should look something like a greyscale image on a program that can handle them. Get a real map and find what shades of grey the heights are for the regions you want. Then use the curves or brightness and contrast tools to map them to black and white.

The USGS is supposed to have its own app as well which you could try...
