My issue would be less tactical combat (where generalities are what I care about, with ranges and such) and more strategic movement, a wargame hangover perhaps, heh heh. I like adequate detail to say... yeah there's the route of least resistance, some general hill features, mountain passes etc. Or the characters can say we'll follow this valley, or this ridge, which may not be an exact googleearth representation, but has the look and feel of terrain.But typically I've done without such maps or make my own, LOL.
