I'm starting a new map just for practice.

    First outline sketch.

I very much like your forests.

You are a mapping machine, Sapiento. I do hope you remember to get some sleep, food and excercise from time to time.

I really like the mountain formations to the SW of the map. It does look like there might be an issue with the eastern coastal cliffs and the mountains in the center. Almost as if they are from a different point view. Of course, this is just the initial sketch so I figure you will iron that all out as you progress. It might just be the lack of shading too.

Ramah is right, you are a machine. Talk about prolific. I dream of making all sorts of maps but you are actually pounding them out like crazy. That's just awesome! Thanks for starting a WIP so we can follow along with you on this.

Looks good so far. I especially like your hills. I'm currently trying out the hand-drawn style myself and am not quite satisfied with the hills in my map. I think everything looks pretty good, though, as I mentioned in one of your previous maps, I tend to prefer more tapered rivers. Looking forward to watching this progress.

    Thank you, guys!

@Jaxilon: Maybe it's indeed the missing color or shadow.

    Now I've added basic colors.

Ooh, the textures and color variation really tie things together nicely!

This is looking great as usual, Sap. One question: are your islands tipped over?

    Yes. Maybe bad fixation.

Loving seeing this come together. It's great to see the different stages.

Is this all drawn and painted, or are there some tricks going on here? This is a style I really love and am aiming towards myself, so I'm trying to learn as much about it as possible, without asking you to divulge your secrets, of course .
