    Post The sun and shadows

I was wondering if for town maps the position of the sun should be pre determined. Else you would be scrolling through the countryside. And suddenly all the buildings shadows go the opposite way. (ofcourse you could just rotate the submap)

Man I never thought of that. On the other hand the styles that I have seen so far for city mapping are very different. So different in fact that the shadow orientation is probably not going to be the first thing you notice. If we were all using the same or similar styles it would probably be more important.

I agree with Torq - I think that shadows are but one minor stylistic touch in a wide and varied compilation. I don't think that it matters all that much.

I agree but it was discussed in another thread that shadows should come from top left or else it doesn't look right. I don't necessarily agree whole heartedly with that but I modified my sun direction so that was the case.

I prefer for the Northern Hemisphere the Sun be positioned at bottom left, where the sun would be

But doesn't that sort of depend on where North is?
Bill Stickers is innocent! It isn't Bill's fault that he was hanging out in the wrong place.
