    Map Battlemap a Week [Battlemaps]

I am going to post a finished battlemap each week to create a record of my cartographic practice from now untill I think that my work has reached a reasonably high level. Right now I hack together maps in maptool using free elements that I scrounge off of the internet. Hopefully with time, I can improve this to creating my own map elements and eventually to creating maps wholesale in photoshop at the level of some of the spectacular work that I see on these forums.

I'd like to start off with a map of a hellish broken bridge. I think that this represents my skill right now at making battlemaps, so it is a good starting point for this thread.

Ambitious! Good luck with the endeavor.

This one is ... very red! I like the runes

This week, continuing the current theme of cliff faces, I have a temple which has been broken off into the void. I think that the transition between the cliff and the stars is a little bit off, but it still looks ok.

Keep up the good work. The more you make the better you get.

This week I tried an experiment with overlays created from a photograph, with a simple snowy crevasse. It looks pretty good, but I still need some practice.

Nice work! I recognize the edge overlays that dblade originally posted at Dundjinni. They really give depth and texture to a map.

I missed last week, but I'm back with something a little simpler.

I'm back after a long absence and at this point the thread should probably just be titled "Occasional Battlemaps by Caleth". I'll keep posting stuff occasionally as I make maps for games and such.

This time round I have a map that I made for a short Pathfinder adventure that I am writing. It is supposed to be a small prison dimension.

Nice! I take it that the summoning circle is how new prisoners are sent to the prison?

Here is the second part of the prison dimension that I posted last, across the bridge to the north.
