    Map Sinkholes!

Here's a new map I've made; something of a different style for me. It's a small region of the Zildag Desert called Nuusitu. Nuusitu is a circular bowl-shaped basin, covered in short grasses and shrubs. It is the home of the Nuus tribe of Nargs. The basin is known for its many sinkholes, ranging in size from a few feet to nearly a mile across. These sinkholes can open very quickly, sometimes swallowing people or animals. For this reason the Nuus settlements are often found along the edge of the rocky crags (called "Karz") that stud the basin, as these crags are more stable and less prone to sinkholes.

What a unique feature/idea. Not to mention an incredible map.

Looks like Karz Zaifun would be a treacherous place to get to.

Nice map, and certainly an unusual terrain. Looks like fun.

The relief is patched together from a couple of real-world DEMs. The main sinkhole-and-river basin area, as well as the badlands area, is from the Mammoth Cave, Kentucky area. The mountains are from the Sangre de Cristo Range in Colorado and New Mexico. And then there are a few other patches of desert landforms from the American southwest in there as well.
