Post Another lurker come out ... if you see what I mean

    Hi all,

My name is Norm, and I used to love doing maps for the RPG's I used to play years ago. Got bitten by the bug again about a year or so back over at Salroth. I started to run a few game there, but saw the need to get better maps than what I was able to produce.

I started to look round the net and after finding some relevant photoshop tutorials, I chanced across this place.

What have the Romans ever done for us?
Sorry to Monty Python fans but I'll change that to;-
What has Cartographers Guild done for me?

In short this site has totally changed the way I look at mapping as well as increasing whatever meagre skills I did have. Alright, other than changing the way I see mapping and improving my skills, what else has CG done for me.

One word GIMP. You have introduced me to this fantastic programme, and as I grow in confidence with this tool, I will be able to - hopefully - produce better results.

I have started a game recently and have a couple of W.I.P. things going on.

I know I still have a lot to learn and am keen to do so. I believe that this is the place I can get the best "education" in my cartographic endeavors.

    Thank you all.

Welcome, Norm! I'm so glad you found the Guild, joined, and are already participating. I know in the long run we'll learn just as much from you as vice versa.

Welcome to the Guild, Norm! One of the main reasons for this place's existence is to help people to learn how to and to improve their mapmaking. I'm glad you've come aboard and are taking full advantage of the tutorials. Your WIPs are looking great!

Welcome to the Guild Norm! From what I see of Vinholm you are off to a great start. The Guild is all about learning and encouraging each other as you'll see so I'm glad it is achieving all its goals so far.
Bill Stickers is innocent! It isn't Bill's fault that he was hanging out in the wrong place.

Welcome Norm. If you'll follow me over to the CWBP stall, we'll get you settled in right away. Seriously feel free to ask anything you're not sure of, whether it has to od with Gimp or mapping in general.
