Those maps are fantastic! How did you do the irregular outlines? I love them!

Ah. Yes. I created a handful of new brushes from a combination of scanned ink blots, fiddling, a little bit of cursing, and brush settings that include a wide-range size jitter and 0% minimum diameter. Then I just varied the pressure I put on the stylus while I drew. =) You can actually get a pretty nifty liner by adjusting a few of the settings on the default graphite pencil... but I don't know if that comes with every version of photoshop.

How do you want the title displayed?

i think the area below the frame would be good for that.
Maybe you have another better idea?

That might work. Should it read 'Der Kontinent Midas +633'? ... I have no clue what that last bit signifies. And do you need a compass and/or scale on this one? And/or anything else? I attempted a couple of illustration ideas but they didn't really fit so I took them out. Also did a little detail work on the border, but I'm not sure I like that either. I'm realizing that it's difficult to do illustrations on maps without knowing anything about the people or cities or actual terrain. =]

yes you re absolutely right with that. "Der Kontinent Midas +633" is the right title.
The scale is also a good idea. The Landmass has a length of about 500km from east do west. And from North to the south its about 650Km. I hope that this can help you with the scale.
And now i try to work out something for the illustrations. I think I'll use some of the blassons i made, but i'm not sure right now

Some coat of arms might work very well indeed. If you decide you want to use some, or would like to see what it could look like, send me some clear pictures of what you created and the positions you want them (lower left/top right/etc) and I'll draw them in.

And I should be able to work up a scale from that, yes. =)

All right, what do you think of this? The scale is not exactly as you suggested, because the map dimensions are more square. And I tried to make it easy... so one cm = 50km.
