Default May/June 2012 Lite Entry: Temple

Hey all...after nearly a 10 year hiatus from D&D, I started DMing again and got myself Campaign Cartographer since I always sucked at drawing maps (but loved it when other DMs used them). So, for the past month i've been downloading just about everything off the DJ website (many thanks to those who see their bitmaps on my maps) and trying to learn this program.

Anyhow - figured i'd share what I have so far...its supposed to be some sort of ancient elf temple that my players will encounter at some point. So far, I have the ground floor area devoted to several alters and a second floor that overlooks it and contains the library and a secret alchemy lab and several chests. Figured I would add a few basement floors (if I have time)...I just learned how to do the point light stuff so I went a little crazy with it. Any comments or suggestions are certainly welcomed.

Looks good so far...very atmospheric with all the lighting.

I added your Latest Wip tag...if you don't your image won't be put into the thumbnails for voting.

Also, do you have a plan to put all five levels of this on one image?

Wasn't aware that I had to put all 5 levels on one image...Not sure how to do that aside from placing them side by side in photoshop or something...any suggestions?

Bogie and a couple of the others are in the same boat. You might just take a look at how they are organizing their stuff, it may give you an idea.

    Wip 1st basement level

Here's the first level of the basement. These are primarily living quarters but also have an entrance to the crypts below (my last two levels). I plan on having the last two levels deviate from the temple's shape a bit (and hopefully ditch the symmetry theme i've got going thus far.

Looking good! What program do you use? Any chance of getting a bit larger, higher res version? I want to see all the details. Each map can be up to 4 MB.

I just noticed looking more closely for the details Bogie mentioned that I think some of your lighting is just a wee bit wonky. Not that it really hurts it but if you are a stickler for that sort of thing you may want to recheck some of those. Some shadows look like they are from lights outside the rooms or something.

    Wip 2nd Basement Level (Crypt)

@Bogie - I'm using Campaign Cartographer (and tons of symbols that I'm pretty sure you made...thanks btw). Not sure how to get a high res version of them...any suggestions?

@Jaxilion - I just started trying to learn how to do the lighting effects in CC3 and it was torture to figure out. If I have time to go back and tweak I'll double check some of my settings and light placement.

    Thanks for the feedback.

I'm not familiar with CC3, in DJ we can export at different resolution levels. The higher the resolution the longer it takes, but 100 DPI is a good balance.
