    Default [WIP] - Molur Region

Hello, this is the first map i'm posting here. I did spent a lot of time reading the tutorials, and finally found really useful things on the internet to make a map on the old style. I play RPG and, even if I'm now just a player, not the GM, I want to start a campaign with some players and for that I need a map, so here it is the first map for it. Its the region of Molur, divided by the mountain range on its center, here live the Elves and men who serve the Colistair Empire. More story I may add on next maps and updates.

The trees and mountains are from Ramah and the paper I found on google images. I hope you like it, any critiques are welcome

PS: How do I make the image have that darker square around it here in the forum? You know, the one where is written Attachments and then the image is shown inside it.

Well I did some updates to the map, it's almost finished. I decided to take out that compass because it was not fitting with the map.

Nice work on your first map. The paper background looks rather fine, the colouration gives a good impression of water without being to obvious. Good landform, nice layout for the mountains.

But there are a few things that you should change, in my opinion.

Main point is the rivers. First their layout is... quite wrong. The one tutorial you should definitly read in that regard is this one.
Simply put: rivers start in the highlands and merge with other rivers on their way towards the oceans. Splits are rare and limited to specific situations.
Second, the style you used doesn't fit the rest of your map. At least you should join the outline of the rivers to the coast... but I'd say you should go for simple black lines completely. You should also taper them... make the go more narrow towards their origin. Also, don't draw your rivers over other graphical elements.

A minor point: the ships. Nice brushes, but you should not repeat them. It looks... copied (because it IS copied )

Freodin makes some good points about the layout and design elements quite right.
Also, it's unclear what the Colistair Empire is. I'm assuming it's the political entity that rules all the places shown on the map, but judging by both the font you've used to label it and its location on the map, it looks at first glance as if it refers to the northern body of water. To fix this, you may want to consider putting it in a different font, and moving the name so that it covers the land the empire controls.
A more minor stylistic point: the transition between green and the yellow is quite abrupt. There are a couple of instances of mapping styles where this would be justified, for instance, if the green is supposed to represent the border of the region of Molur and the rest of the world (similar to how the countries are in this map), than this is fine, although you may want to change the yellow to a different color, such as grey. However, it rather looks instead like the green and yellow represent climates, grassland and desert respectively. If this is the case, you may want to feather the border between them some more to imply more of a gradual transition.
