Thread: Elizabethan Plymouth

    Default Elizabethan Plymouth

I am looking to find someone that I can work with to produce a map of Plymouth and its surrounding areas at the end of the 16th century.

I'm currently in the early stages of producing setting material and would like to work with a cartographer as I progress.

The setting is an "alternate history" setting so the map does not have to be historically accurate, however I would like it to have a feel for the period.

There are maps available for reference: http://www.cyber-heritage.co.uk/maps/mayflower.htm

    Payment to be discussed.

What Size do you need the map? Print or Digital Use? Privat or Comercial usage?

I would like the map to be a fairly large map, zooming into specific areas to go along with the area setting information. Initially it would be used for a wiki and probably a pdf, if there was interest then the pdf would be made into a printed product. It could end up being a commercial product if a printed book is produced.

Here's a period map of Exeter (just along the coast) http://historic-cities.huji.ac.il/br...erg_VI_1_b.jpg something similar to that for the town centre would be good. And maybe something like http://www.cyber-heritage.co.uk/maps/map4.jpg for the surrounding area.

Hmm, looks like I'm talking myself into two maps... :s

Well, I would certainly love to work on a project like that as well. Although, for city maps, we have a cartographer that just recently did a map in precisely that style ...

Anyway, some of my maps: http://lukc.deviantart.com
