    Default Insert original greeting here...

Hi, new to the forum, etc. I'm here because I'm fascinated with maps--historical, modern, fantasy, real, and any other permutation thereof--and can keep myself amused by just looking at an atlas for days on end, no matter how dull the area it maps may be. Sadly, however, I'm not actually knowledgeable about cartography.

I'm certainly not knowledgeable when it comes to terminology, which is one of the things that brought me here. As soon as I find the right place to post about it, I plan to chime in with questions about a certain type of antique (or possibly faux antique) global map projection.

Thanks for the welcome! I have a feeling I'm going to have a lot of fun poking around the place, whether I find an answer to my question or not.

Welcome ExStock! You don't have to be an expert in Cartography to appreciate the beauty of maps. The great thing about the Guild is that it is filled with both novices with an avid interest in maps and those with more expert knowledge. So if you stick around you will inevitably increase in knowledge.

    Cheers,
