    Default City map, hand-drawn: Wayside

    Drawn for Nystul's Infinite Dungeon.
Drawn at 12x9 with 0.03 and 0.05 ink pens.

Described as a "Deadwood" that has grown as adventurers have flooded in, it is the 'nexus' of island activity and the main resting point before one heads deeper inland. I wanted to capture the spirit of "the Wild West" with the single main road heading through town (complete with taverns on either side), but also show organic growth: the motte and bailey positioned near the freshwater springs, which eventually grew into the first wall, and then again another burst along the Eastern and Southern edges.

Very cool! I'm curious, what kind of pens do you use?

They are not even an expensive pen (I used to use Rotring), but I find that they are pretty on the mark (although nib wear can cause the same sized nib to have different results ... I actually use this to my advantage and tend to use them like I would different sized brushes!)

Thanks! I may have to investigate those... I have an xs .1 pitt, but sometimes it's not small enough.

Yes - honestly - .1 is HUGE and I rarely use mine. 0.05 is good, 0.03 is borderline madness, lol.

I also found that switching out my paper to one made for ink work really helped keep the lines as thin as the pen intends - 'pourous' paper soaks up the ink, even only a little, and it will bleed enough so 0.03 comes out closer to 0.06!
