    Post Hello

Been a member for about 6 months and found my way here via RPMiller's postings on the Maptools forums. Been playing D&D since mid-early 80s with various years long pauses at times. Played a few other games, notably Mechwarrior (man, I love that game!), a bit of rolemaster (very little), Shadowrun once (I love this system also), Marvel Super Heros, and various board game types of things (Talisman, HeroQuest, etc.)

I live in NC with wife and son and work in software development. Horribly bad at anything dealing with art. My mother did not pass on her art genes(she is an art teacher) to me and I guess my dad game me his logic instead (though I don't think he is all the logical now that I think of it.) I bought Fractal Mapper about a year ago and now want to learn a bit more about GIMP both for map making and general photo editing stuff, along with any other free software that might help make something look good.

    My Tutorials:
Explanation of Layer Masks in GIMP
How to create ISO Mountains in GIMP/PS using the Smudge tool

I probably already said it, but I'll say it again... Welcome to the Guild!

So how many is that from MapTool that I've brought over here anyway?
Bill Stickers is innocent! It isn't Bill's fault that he was hanging out in the wrong place.

Welcome to the guild, jf! Many of us (especially me) thought that we did not have a hope of learning how to draw a passable map when we joined, but with lots of help and lots of practice it does get easier.
