    Post Troll Cave

I was exploring some new ideas I had for mapping natural caverns and threw together this simple map to test out some of those ideas. I wasn't so much interested in fleshing it out for adventuring, so I don't have any location labels. In fact the only reason it's a "Troll Cave" at all is simply because I said so. So there. (DM tyrant alert!)

I mainly wanted to try and make the map feel more "natural" while maintaining that quick and clean style I like so much. Also, I tried making "clean rubble". Don't know if I'm altogether satisified with that, though.

Anyway, I thought I'd share it to see what you all think.

More messing around. I decided to try making some cavern cross-sections. I recalled seeing a couple on a real cavern survey map once and wanted to give it a whirl.

Edit: I just noticed that one of my cross-sections is backwards. Oops. I'll need to watch that if I ever do one like this again...

Totorial? I'm not doing anything special. Just shlucking about in Photoshop. It seems that just when I think I know what I'm doing, I find a better or easier way of doing it. No, I need to get my own process down pat before I could ever presume to write a tutorial. But I'm certainly not adverse to the idea.

I like the style a lot, especially the cross-sections. It would be great to have an inset showing a cross-section sketch of the whole cavern to give an idea of relative heights.

Otherwise, great looking map. I'll be stealing it

Damn, that's some great caves! I'd like to have a word with that troll...

Anyway, these are some of the nicest cave maps I've seen. Very natural and very informative for the game.

I'd really like some more info on how you made them...if you have time!
