    Default City of Aloron

I just started working on a new city in Google SketchUp 8. This is just the beginning. So far I've done a rough sketch of the terrain and started building the palace that sits at the top of a hill. What do you think so far?

I'd appreciate any criticism before I get too far into it.

It looks like a good start so far!

I don't know Google SketchUp that good but i'm curious what you're make out of that beginning. 3D-Moddeling is always a great possibility to create a good map!

is the map going to be fully realisd in this software or is it just a base you'll 'draw' over? looks interesting nonetheless

The palace is the same, but slightly more zoomed out with a view of the city wall and the road leading up to the palace. It's going to be quite a large city. Right now everything is very rectangular, because that makes it easier to work with in SketchUp. Eventually I'll add in some curved lines to make it look more like a natural coastline.

Mh, you're right, it looks really huge! Nice to see the area from a more higher position so we can see a bit more of the dimensions you want to do. I'm already curious how the other buildings might look like! Just keep up the good working!

In this one you can see I've rounded out the coastline, and added a few more roads.

I've also added an arched causeway leading up to the palace. And the hill is now taller. Any suggestions before I add in the rest of the buildings?
I'm not really following any plan, just making it up as I go. I'm open to advice. Thanks.

Looks really really nice! It never occured to me to use Sketchup for mapping, great idea! Looking forward to seeing how it develops!

I've added some more roads and started filling in the city with buildings. The houses aren't very detailed, but the castles are. I need to add a lot more variety to the buildings, but here's what I've got so far:

As you can see from the close-up of the industrial complex, this city isn't entirely medieval, but it isn't exactly modern either. More to come...
